What opportunities are available?
G-Designs Academy Instructors are hired for a variety of jobs, some of which include:
Instructor: Create one complete course.
Advisor: Helping to choose the future of an Udacity School or Nanodegree.
Course Proposal: Creating a new course proposal.
Other Course Support: Construction projects, courses, assessments, and/or upkeep of existing materials.
How are instructors chosen?
Instructors are chosen based on the following criteria:
- A track record of professional experience and expertise in a digital subject relevant to G-Designs Academy.
- Receiving a positive review from G-Designs Academy Content Team following an informational interview and the submission of a high-quality teaching sample. Strong teaching samples reflect a candidate’s breadth and depth of knowledge, as well as the alignment of his or her skills to a course or Nanodegree that G-Designs Academy intends to construct.
I've never taught before. Should I still apply to be an instructor?
Yes, you should still apply.
G-Designs Academy instructors have a wide range of professional backgrounds and experience. It is not required for Instructors to have prior teaching or educational experience before collaborating with us to create a course. Indeed, some of G-Designs Academy’s most effective Instructors have no prior teaching expertise. Rather, what all successful Instructors have in common is specific area knowledge, an enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge, and an openness to criticism. Any pedagogical help that Instructors may require throughout course development will be supplied by the G-Designs Academy team.
I've never taught in front of a camera. Is G-Designs Academy right for me?
Yes, G-Designs Academy may still be a good fit for you. Instructors do not need to have on-camera or online teaching experience to build a successful course, as the G-Designs Academy Production team will assist with any support needed to produce high-quality video content.
Are Instructors paid?
Yes, G-Designs Academy Instructors are paid. Instructors earn from the sales of their courses or when a student buys any of their courses and is determined by an individual’s seniority in his/her particular field, and by the particular Scope of Work that is agreed upon in his/her contract.
When do instructors work?
Instructors often work between 3-5 hours per day during the week and 4-7 hours per day on weekends. With the exception of one week, all work is conducted remotely from the Instructor’s location.
Does G-Designs Academy provide support for Instructors?
Yes, G-Designs Academy actively supports Instructors throughout every stage of course development. Instructors develop one full course in close partnership with G-Designs Academy Content Team which supports Instructors with course design, pedagogical advising, lesson development, time management and video production.
Are G-Designs Academy courses recorded or live?
Courses on G-Designs Academy are pre-recorded. This allows students to learn on their own timetable/schedule and successfully complete course material at their own pace.
Do Instructors have influence over course design?
Yes, Instructors do have influence over the final design of the course that they are contracted to build. During the beginning of course development, Instructors are provided with a general course outline, especially for instructors that are just getting started which is created by G-Designs Academy Content Team based on industry and market research. Instructors then develop that content throughout course development and refine the course design along the way.
